DOROTHY MINER MEMORIAL TRAVEL FELLOWSHIP FUND
As a memorial to our beloved colleague Dorothy Miner, the Historic Preservation Program at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation is establishing a Dorothy Miner Memorial Travel Fellowship Fund. This fund will help defray travel expenses relating to research necessary for the completion of the thesis that is required of all students. In the past, the Historic Preservation Program had a small amount of money to support such travel from a fund that has now been exhausted; some of you were undoubtedly the beneficiaries of this fund. This new fund will continue a project that was dear to Dorothy’s heart. Dorothy chaired the funding committee for these grants for many years.
Dorothy was one of the great voices for historic preservation in America. Many of you were law colleagues of Dorothy’s, others had the advantage of her teaching skills, or worked with her on civic projects, or were lucky to have her as a thesis adviser, and others were among the friends with whom she had an extraordinary bond and loyalty. With this memorial fund in honor of Dorothy we will be continuing to further preservation education for new generations. We can think of no more appropriate way to celebrate Dorothy’s commitment to historic preservation and education than the establishment of this memorial fund.
We hope that you will donate generously to the Dorothy Miner Memorial Travel Fellowship Fund. Please note that 100% of your donation will go directly to the fellowship fund and is tax-deductible to the full extent allowable by law. Please make checks payable to Columbia University, with a note in the memo line reading “GSAPP Dorothy Miner Fund,” and send them to the address below:
